About

Ryan Hammang is the founder of Mementropy Labs, an AI-native architecture consultancy, and creator of the Macrostate platform for enterprise governance and cognitive observability.

With a background spanning electrical engineering, quantitative finance, and enterprise data platforms, Ryan brings a first-principles approach to solving complex technical challenges. His work focuses on the intersection of information theory, distributed systems, and AI—transforming microstate chaos into macrostate clarity.

Current Focus

  • Databricks Advisory — Unity Catalog migrations, MLOps implementation, and platform architecture
  • Vitrify — Open-source governance assessment for Databricks platforms
  • Dissertation Research — Applying information theory to memetics and cultural transmission

Background

Before founding Mementropy Labs, Ryan served as a Databricks Principal Solution Architect at Slalom Consulting, leading enterprise migrations and AI implementations for Fortune 100 clients. Prior roles include Senior AI/ML Engineer at Capgemini, Data Engineer at Microsoft, and Volatility Trader at J.P. Morgan Chase.

He holds an M.S. in Finance from Seattle University and dual B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Economics from Montana State University.

Philosophy

"Mementropy" combines meme (memetics—the study of how ideas replicate) with entropy (information theory—the measure of uncertainty). It captures the core question: How do patterns propagate, evolve, and dissipate in complex systems?

This lens applies equally to cultural transmission, enterprise data platforms, and autonomous AI systems. The goal is always the same: find the signal in the noise.
